"The bottom line for us is $7,000 in virtually free hardware and software. The technology vouchers are enabling us to purchase a high-end desktop publishing and graphics workstation and applications that will allow us to produce internal employee handbooks and training documents more efficiently and with higher quality. The balance of our vouchers will be used to replace many of our older, slower desktop computers and make a transition to flat panel monitors. We found working with DonateDirect™ extremely easy and efficient."

How it Works

The settlement is paid in the form of technology vouchers which work dollar-for-dollar like rebate coupons. Vouchers may be used to offset the purchase of desktop computers, laptops, peripheral devices (printers, scanners, monitors, keyboards and mice) as well as software from any vendor -- not just Microsoft. Any purchase made after July 18, 2003 is eligible for a refund. By sending vouchers along with purchase receipts, an organization can simply receive a check. Or, nonprofits can bank their vouchers, and every IT purchase they make in the future can be submitted for a refund, making IT purchases essentially free. Vouchers do not cover taxes and shipping.

DonateDirect™ has funded all of the legal costs, forged a strong relationship with the claims administrator, and done all of the upfront donor recruiting and development work. The program is very simple: sign up, pay the DonateDirect™ fee (currently a $3000 service fee), and you will receive rebate vouchers. For example, an organization with $10,000 in IT purchases to offset will receive a check for $10,000 for a fee of $3,000. Fee is payable via credit card or check. No hidden costs. This opportunity is limited - when we run out of vouchers to transfer, the program ends.

Here are some more examples:

Example #1:  An organization has receipts for  $5,300 on non-server IT purchases since July, 2003.  The organization signs up with DonateDirect™, sends in our contract and our required fee of $3,000.  DonateDirect™ sends back vouchers in the amount of $10,000 within ten business days.

The organization then pairs up $5,300 in vouchers with their receipts, and fills out the vouchers as in the instructions provided by DonateDirect™.  Within approximately 60 days, the claims administrator will send the organization a check for $5,300.  Over the next few years, the organization can pair any IT purchase receipt  with the same amount in vouchers and have those purchases refunded, minus taxes and shipping.

Example #2:  An organization has purchased $15,000 worth of IT products since July, 2003. After paying the DonateDirect™ fee, the organization can send in all $15,000 worth of receipts along with their vouchers. The organization will receive a check for $10,000.

Example #3:  An organization has purchased $8,300 worth of IT products since July, 2003. After paying the DonateDirect™ fee, the organization submits those receipts along with $8,300 in vouchers. However, two of the products submitted, totaling $400, do not qualify for the settlement. The administrator will send a check for $7,900, and a voucher for $400 to be used with future purchases.
